Communication Committee Mandate

Although the Communication Committee is without a chair at present this committee continues to meet on a regular basis, usually the third Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Presbytery Office on Lansdowne Avenue. Shirley Stark is staff resource to this group. This Committee is looking for members now. As well as the duties as outlined in The Manual (Section 381) the main focus of their work is divided into ten (10) areas:

Responsible for seeing that the Presbytery Web Page is kept current and on line. The web site address is www.montrealpresbytery.ca. Process for translation of parts of the site into French is being looked at.
Ensure that a Calendar of Events is included with the regular Presbytery mailing. All groups and congregations are encouraged to list their upcoming events. Dates must be in the month prior to any two-month period.
Responsibility for announcement time at Presbytery meetings
Oversite of Presbytery equipment, i.e. P.A. system and Power Point equipment
Brings together articles for the bi-annual publication of the Presbytery Newsletter.
Oversees the circulation of messages, via Quick Link (as per mandate)
Work closely with the Presbytery Office Staff to ensure that the regular mailings go out smoothly.
Building of Community at meetings between presbytery reps and committee members
Seeks to promote the ministries of the Presbytery in the mass media by circulating press releases from time to time. And also by working with congregations to ensure that information on The United Church of Canada is included with articles the congregations have printed in local publications.
Work closely with Green Church project folk to promote environmental issues.
